Change your smile
Transcript:
Yeah, so smiles obviously tell a lot, I think, about our personalities and, like, they really are a way that we can, you know, non-verbally communicate with the rest of the world. We spend a lot of time with patients and look at... We'll take some photographs, we take 3D images, and really just sit and kind of listen to each person as to, you know, what concerns they have or what things they would want to change about their smile.
And so, when we do that, we can learn a lot. And then, we can also take 3D scans. We can even make, like, a blueprint so that we can see what their smile could look like. And we can use that so that if we decide that we want to go ahead and whether we do something with, you know, porcelain, like veneers or crowns and we want to change somebody's smile, they can actually get a chance to kind of test drive it before they get, you know, their final smile.
I would say cosmetic dentistry is just a lot of fun because it's something that, you know, as opposed to being, like, an emergency dental, you know, situation, it's something that people, you know, they're looking forward to, they're excited to be able to sort of improve, you know, what they look like and improve kind of how they go about and represent themselves, like, in the world. And it makes a big difference, it seems. You know, it changes people's lives.
One Visit Crowns

With CEREC®, Dr. Kutsch can complete your permanent, all-ceramic crown, onlay, or veneer in just one quick visit! This means fewer shots, less drilling, and less time out of your hectic schedule for dental care.
Porcelain Veneers
A porcelain laminate (or veneer) is a thin shell of porcelain that covers the front of each tooth. They bond directly to the front of the tooth, similar to the way artificial fingernails work. Each porcelain laminate is a work of art, carefully crafted in a laboratory to fit your individual smile.
One of the biggest benefits of porcelain veneers is that you can a total smile restoration without damaging your natural teeth. Veneers are stain-resistant, allow you to eat and have the lifestyle you’re accustomed to and require the same basic care as your natural teeth.

Life changing treatment
Transcript:
So, dental veneers are kind of they're the most minimally invasive way that if somebody does not like the shape of their teeth or if they don't like the color, we can use a veneer, which is essentially a piece of porcelain that's maybe a third or less, you know, the thickness of like 1 millimeter and put it onto the front of the tooth, and essentially make it look however somebody wants their teeth to look.
So, if somebody does not like the way...if they don't like the color of their teeth, if they don't like the length of their teeth or the shape of their tooth, we can use veneers, you know, do minimal changes to the tooth itself. We can often use veneers, you know, to make it look like you have the smile that you've always wanted.
And, so, veneers are one of the longest-lasting types of dental treatment that we can provide. And, most people wouldn't know when somebody has veneers because they look very natural. And, you know, just such a great procedure for changing people's lives.

Diagnose oral cancer early
Transcript:
Yeah, so the VELscope is a technology that helps us diagnose oral cancer before it's visible to the naked eye. And oral cancer is not something that's uncommon, but the key to treatment is early detection. And so having the VELscope is just one more technology that we have that we provide with our cleanings. It's just part of our procedure. There's no additional cost for that, but it's something that I believe in enough that we can scan the tissue and at least know if something's changing underneath and we can quickly diagnose it.
VELscope® Oral Cancer Screening
VELscope® is a revolutionary hand-held device that provides the dental team at Kutsch Dentistry with the ability to detect oral cancer and other abnormalities before they are visible with the naked eye.
This non-invasive device works by emitting a harmless blue light that allows Dr. Kutsch to view the different fluorescence responses to help differentiate between normal and abnormal tissue. In fact, VELscope® is the only non-invasive adjunctive device clinically proven to help discover oral disease.
When utilized along with normal routine care, VELscope® provides a level of prevention previously unavailable. We’re proud to offer oral cancer screening to our patients with every appointment at no additional fee.
Oral Systemic Link
Having healthy teeth is part of the key to having a healthy body. Periodontal disease, or gum disease, is found in some form in 3 out of 4 Americans with 30% of those cases being more severe. The bacteria in the mouth can enter the rest of the body through saliva, the bloodstream, and aspiration into the lungs. Thus, increasing risk of coronary heart disease, stroke, abnormal birth weights, diabetes, and kidney problems.
In our dental practice, we treat periodontal disease and our hygienists are trained in providing laser bacterial reduction. This procedure helps eliminate bacteria from the gum tissue surrounding the teeth, thereby, helping increase healing and decrease risk of more significant medical problems.

Simple process for preventative care
Transcript:
So Carifree cavity screening is a process where we can take a quick, easy swab, you know, a little cotton swab on the teeth and test and find out somebody's risk for future decay. And so it's a quick screening. It's something we would just provide for patients. Every time that we take our, you know, annual x-rays, we'll do a quick swab. It tells us a risk assessment. Are you more likely or less likely to get cavities?
And then if somebody is more likely, we can find out kind of where that risk is coming from and be able to treat that so that we can try to prevent cavities. As opposed to the old model of, you know, somebody gets cavities and we just keep filling cavities, filling holes. Now we can actually screen people, find out who's gonna be more likely at risk to get decay, and treat that on the front end to prevent it.
CariFree® Cavity Screening
Recent findings have shown that sometimes good oral hygiene isn’t enough to stop cavities. Tooth decay is caused by a bacterial infection known as dental caries. Acids from sugars, foods, or medications can cause an oral environment at risk for cavities that can be measured with new PH detecting technology known as CariFree.
Dr. Kutsch promotes long-term dental health as an alternative to simply treating signs and symptoms by filling cavities. Dr. Kutsch can perform a quick, painless one-minute screening to determine your risk for cavities. If harmful decay-causing bacteria are identified, treatment of this infection may be recommended.

Accurate care and excellent results
Transcript:
So being able to use a technology called the X-Nav, we can basically design the implant placement before the patient even arrives. So we design it on a CT scan, and then once the patient is here at the clinic, it will guide me to put the implant within microns, you know, within thousands of a millimeter in accuracy.
We can put it in the best location as far as the bone goes, so you get better bone. We can design it so that the way that when you bite together, the way things function, that it works the best for the crown and for the implant, which helps both the implants and the crowns to hold up and last longer.
And then it can be also more minimally invasive because it's gonna guide me straight there so we can put it in right in that spot. Healing can be better, less invasive, better for function, and for just the components and everything holding up over the long run. So all of those have a direct benefit to the overall implant experience and the outcome of what you'd get with your own dental implant.
X-Guide™ Dynamic 3D Navigation
Designed to provide the exact position, angle, and depth with Dynamic 3D technology during the live surgery, Dr. Kutsch’s X-Guide™ system gives him the utmost precision and control. This means your implant procedure will be minimally-invasive with smaller incisions, less pain, and faster recovery. This technology has been used in neurosurgery for years, and now comes to Albany at Dr. Kutsch’s office.
Perio Protect® Treatment
A comprehensive approach to gum disease treatment, Perio Protect combines dental cleanings with the comfortable Perio Tray® delivery of medication that patients use at home between office visits. The Perio Tray is similar to a mouth-guard, but it has a special sealing system to deliver medication below the gums. You put medication in the tray and wear it for a few minutes a day. The medication fights the infections. It’s that easy.

Extra help for healthy gums
Transcript:
Dr.Carson: So traditionally, when you have your... You know, if you have gum disease, and we're treating that more often than not, I would say most people are getting treated mechanically. Meaning that the hygienist goes in, cleans the teeth, cleans below the gum line, is cleaning stuff, you know, plaque and calculus and debris off of the teeth themselves. And so some people respond well to that, and they have a good outcome, and they get improved gum health. But at the same time, some people don't. And so the Perio Protect trays allow us to add a little bit of pharmacology or add some medication specifically to those gum tissue pockets so that we can treat cases that are needed where we can treat it both by cleaning the teeth physically, but then also, you know, adding medications to that so that we can get a better result.
