What are digital x rays?

Monday, December 7th, 2009

Historically, x rays (radiographs) were taken with film and developed within the dental office. X rays are used so that dentists can see through the hard tissues in the body such as bone and teeth. In order to accurately find cavities, pathology, or to look at anatomy, x rays have been very valuable in providing the dentist with accurate information. In the last ten years, digital x rays have replaced conventional film just as digital cameras have replaced film cameras. The images that are produced by digital x rays are more accurate and can be viewed in a much larger view. In addition, these x rays require less radiation and developing chemicals, thus making it more safe to the patient. With all of the advancements in dentistry, the experience of going to the dentist has gotten much more comfortable and safe for the patient. Carson Kutsch Albany Oregon Dentist www.drkutsch.com
