Teeth whitening

Monday, August 30th, 2010

There are many ways to whiten (teeth bleaching) your teeth. The simplest way is to have your teeth cleaned (dental prophy, periomaintenance) in order to eliminate any stain from the teeth. The teeth can also be whitened through a process called teeth bleaching. This can be done either in or out of the office. Whitening the teeth at the dental office (Laser bleaching, Power bleaching) is quicker, has a stronger effect and includes materials to touch up and whiten at home. Bleaching at home can also be effective, however, it requires  multiple applications to get the same result as in office bleaching. In our office, most patients do the in office bleaching in order to get quicker results and we give them the take home bleaching for free in order to touch up their teeth as desired. If you want whiter teeth, call for a free consultation. Dr. Carson Kutsch Dentist Albany Oregon www.drkutsch.com

When should a child first see the dentist?

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

This is a frequent question that we receive. I would recommend that you begin bringing your child to our office around the age of two so that they can get used to seeing our environment and team. We usually don’t begin cleaning their teeth until all of their baby (deciduous) teeth have erupted but it is nice to get them comfortable with going to the dentist prior to them actually being the patient. If you have an appointment to get your teeth cleaned when they are between 2-3 years old, just bring them along and we can introduce them to our office and help make them comfortable prior to their first visit. Today’s dentistry doesn’t have to be scary but it all starts with having non-threatening first experiences. We love working with children. Please call if you have any questions. Affordable dentistry

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

Not every patient that comes to our dental practice has dental insurance or unlimited finances to cover all of their dental treatment. Thus, we offer a service to our patients called Care Credit. Care Credit, which can be found on our website, is a payment plan that allows patients to break up the cost of dentistry. As long as you make the payments within the length of the repayment period, there is no interest. In other words, it is interest free and allows patients to break up the cost of dentistry. Care Credit can also be used in several other types of medical offices as well. If you would like to break up the cost of your dental treatment, feel free to call our office or visit our website at www.drkutsch.com and find out how to apply. We are an environmentally safe practice

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

As with any industry, dentistry has its fair share of potentially harmful substances. However, with advances in technology and new techniques, many of these have been eliminated from our dental practice. We use digital x rays (radiography), which significantly decreases the amount of radiation that is exposed to our patients and eliminates the need for several chemicals to process film. We monitor the nitrous oxide levels in our practice and have updated all of the equipment to keep it out of the air. We do not use any mercury fillings (amalgam, alloy, silver) and have been a mercury free dental practice for several years. In addition, we have installed a special filtration system to ensure that mercury does not make it into Albany’s water from old fillings. We make every attempt to protect our patients, ourselves, and the environment. We welcome you to join our family dental practice. Dr. Carson Kutsch Albany Oregon Dentist www.drkutsch.com

It’s a good time to think about wisdom teeth

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

Summer time is an excellent time for students to get dentistry completed while they are out of school. Wisdom teeth are typically taken out between the ages of 15 and 20 on most people. Few individuals have the space in their mouth to have healthy, problem free wisdom teeth. Having your wisdom teeth taken out (pulled, extracted) is a very common, routine procedure. Most patients are sore for a couple of days but heal quickly. The younger the patient, usually means it will be easier on the patient. Summer is also a great time to think about orthodontics or simply completing other dentistry such as fillings, sealants, crowns, etc.    Dr. Carson Kutsch Albany Oregon Dentist www.drkutsch.com

When do I start taking my child to the dentist?

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

Children typically have all twenty of their baby teeth by three years old. We recommend that children begin visiting the dentist with their parents around two years of age to in order to get familiar with the office and to clean their teeth once they are comfortable with the environment and our team. We are a family dental practice and have patients ranging from two years old to 100. Since dentistry is a lifetime process, the earlier that problems are detected the smaller the problem and the better experience for children. Our dental team loves caring for children and most of them have kids of their own so they know what it can be like to visit the dentist for the first time. If you have questions about your child’s oral health, don’t hesitate to ask. Dr. Carson Kutsch Albany Oregon Dentist www.drkutsch.com

Dental Implants

Monday, May 17th, 2010

For patients that are missing teeth, dental implants offer the most conservative and long lasting solution for tooth replacement. Dental implants have been around for nearly fifty years and have finally surpased other treatments such as a bridge (fixed partial denture) or removable denture as the most natural feeling, cosmetic, and longest lasting solution. When a tooth is lost, it used to be common to crown the adjacent teeth in order to connect them together as a “bridge.” Not only did this damage the adjacent teeth but it also placed the patient at a higher risk for root canals and losing more teeth. With dental implants, the adjacent teeth to a space can be left untouched and only the space can be addressed. The implant acts like a root replacement and enables the dentist to make a tooth in the space that looks and feels like a natural tooth. Dr. Carson Kutsch DDS Albany Oregon Dentist www.drkutsch.com
